I was excited for the first meal plan to be posted by Drew of Fit2Fat2Fit. That was about seven months ago. Finally, the day came and his Day 1 Meal plan went live on his site. First meal: A spinach shake.
Talk about a “WTF” moment. I had never heard of nor could I fathom drinking three cups of spinach. Nope. Wasn’t going to do it. Besides, (insert excuses here). There was no photo of how it looked, although I could imagine. Some of the ingredients were familiar. I love peanut butter and bananas. I usually do chocolate Whey instead of vanilla. Yeah, it wasn’t for me.
But things began to change. Drew went on The View after his amazing journey from fat to fit. And Whoopi Goldberg, who apparently has an aversion to vegetables, decided that she loved it. Drew responded to a question I had this week, which is much appreciated. He’s good people. During that exchange, he suggested that I check out the meal plans on his site to get the proper nutrition.
There it was again. First meal: Spinach shake.
In previous weeks, I’d asked Mrs. Meltdown to gather the ingredients. So, I was ready to try it. Today was that day. We pulled out the ingredients:
3 cups of spinach
1 Scoop of vanilla Whey protein
2/3 cup of unsweetened almond milk
2 tbsp natural peanut butter
3 handfuls of ice (approx.)
(465 calories, 35g protein, 29g carbohydrates … all approximate)
We placed everything in the blender and, after learning that we should have put in the liquids first (duh), I had a quite tasty spinach shake! Yes, it was good. No, not just tolerable. Good!
I am going to add it as a regular breakfast item, as it has a good amount of protein and you can’t go wrong with green, leafy vegetables. Thanks, Drew. And Whoopi, of course.
